Pronunciation tips for words ending with k+ed

LinkedIn.. Let's pronounce it correctly!
لينكت إن.. ياللا ننطقها صح!
|ˈlɪŋkt| |ɪn|

Many Arabic native speakers get it wrong and pronounce the "ed" as /id/.

The /k/ sound is voiceless (we don't use the vocal cords to produce it) and therefore when followed by "ed", they will be pronounced as:
/t/ which is voiceless as well.

You can apply this rule to verbs, such as:

talked, sacked, packed and walked

Also, you can apply it to adjectives formed by adding "ed", such as:

blocked, unmarked, uncooked and disliked

But with the exception of a few adjectives, such as:

wicked=/ˈwɪkɪd/
crooked=/ˈkrʊkɪd/
sacred /ˈseɪkrɪd/

Hope this was helpful!
And stay tuned for more.
