Present Simple Tense 

زمن المضارع البسيط 

Form:

I need your help. 

You need my help. 

He/She/It needs your help. (add an S to third person singular) 

They need your help. 

We need your help. 

BUT

consonant + y = fly >> flies - cry >> cries

vowel + y = play > plays - delay > delays

For verbs ending with ch, sh, ss, x & zz, add es:

watch >> watches

wash >> washes

pass >> passes

fix >> fixes

buzz >> buzzes

Usage No.1

The simple present tense is used to express habits:

‎بنستخدم زمن المضارع البسيط للتعبير عن العادات أو الروتين

Examples:

Mayar wakes up early every day.

‎ميار تستيقظ مبكرًا كل يوم

I usually go to work on foot.

‎أذهب عادةً للعمل سيرًا على الأقدام

Usage No.2

The simple present tense is used to express general truths and scientific facts:

نستخدم زمن المضارع البسيط للتعبير عن الحقائق العامة و الحقائق العلمية

Examples:

Cairo is a very crowded city.

القاهرة مدينة شديدة الازدحام

The earth revolves around the sun.

الأرض تدور حول الشمس

Usage No.3

The simple present tense is used to give instructions or directions:

نستخدم زمن المضارع البسيط لإعطاء التعليمات أو وصف الاتجاهات في المحادثة  

Examples:

To get to the post office, you walk for two blocks, then you turn left. After the traffic lights, you go straight on. Then, at the round about, you take the second exit.

عشان تروح مكتب البريد بتمشي مسافة شارعين و بعدين تحود شمال. و بعد الإشارة بتكمل علطول. بعدها عند الصينية بتاخد المخرج التاني.

Usage No.4

The simple present tense is used to express fixed arrangements or scheduled events (e.g. timetable) that are going to happen in the future.

نستخدم زمن المضارع البسيط للتعبير عن الترتيبات الثابتة أو الأحداث التي لها جدول زمني محدد و التي ستقع في المستقبل.

Examples:

The plane takes off at 11:30 tomorrow.

تُقلع الطائرة الساعة ١١:٣٠ غدًا 

The football match begins at 7:00 pm.

تبدأ مباراة كرة القدم الساعة ٧:٠٠ مساءًا

The bus leaves in 15 minutes.

يتحرك الأتوبيس بعد ربع ساعة

She has an English exam tomorrow.

لديها امتحان لغة إنجليزية غدًا
